Artists’ Residencies at the Prattsville Art Center are designed to bring artists from urban areas across the world as well as the Hudson Valley and Northern Catskills, together with rural residents from the remote mountaintop communities that surround Prattsville. Each summer since 2012, we have brought a dozen artists to this pristine river valley to live and make new work on a small town Main Street. Artists contribute to the community by teaching and working in collaboration with local residents, mentoring local youth, and by playing a key role in the ongoing rebuilding of the town.
Residencies are tailored to individual projects and interests, and may last from one week to several months. Residents are selected by recommendation and application.
To apply for a residency, please e-mail: Nancy Barton, at: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include examples of your work, a 1 – 2 page statement about yourself and your interest in our program, as well as your artistic interests, your thoughts about engaging with a recovering rural community, and any additional skills or experiences you feel would be valuable.
